North Dakota

We arrived at Mantador, ND (population, 75) at 4:00 after a 300 mile day. We left I-94 at exit 82 and headed straight west on state and county roads. The terrain is now much flatter than Wisconsin. The transition started in western Minnesota. The farms are bigger and the towns smaller. We were intrigued to find Nashua, population 69. Then we came to Tenney, population 6!!
When we arrived at the Mertes', they greeted us wearing the bowling shirts that they wore when we were teammates in Anchorage in 1964! As you can see, we just pulled the bus alongside one of their outbuildings (I think they called it the granary) without having to unhook. Saturday we'll do some overdue cleaning, and for supper I'll make a pot of fish chowder for all of us using the salmon from Lake Michigan. This continual touring approach is much different than our usual style...more time and opportunity for things to get dirty and little time to clean.
